Going Glass

Apr 02, 2011 | By Cari Hale
Glass bottles were all the rage...back in 1932! Soon they were replaced by their lighter, less expensive,  more durable plastic counterparts. Or were they?

Glass bottles were still sold and manufactured all throughout the world even after plastic bottles came to the market and seemly overtook homes of new mothers everywhere. Just when we all figured out which bottles did what, what plastics were good, which were bad and which liners our babies liked best science quickly showed us we are back to square one. Literally. We're back to traditional glass bottles.

Why? In recent years plastic has been put under the microscope. Besides getting a bad rap from environmentalists and good citizens everywhere for the damage it causes to our environment, it's been tested, retested and, tested some more for harmful chemicals. Studies have shown that harmful chemicals can leach out of the plastic when heated making the plastic baby bottle unsafe for your itty bitties.

In case you need a little more convincing, here's some additional reasons mother's everywhere are turning to glass bottles:

  • They keep contents warmer/colder longer than regular plastic bottles
  • They can be easily sterilized in the dishwasher or with boiling water
  • The glass does not absorb smells or tastes (so if you forget a milk  bottle lying around the house the the bottle won't smell like moldy milk once you clean it out!)
  • Glass bottles give off no after tastes like plastic bottles do.
  • They can last forever! Unless you break or chip them, there is no need to replace them.
That last point is a concern for a lot of mother's and may be the only reason preventing you from making the switch. While broken or chipped glass is a concern, it can be avoided. Our glass bottles come snug in a silicone shock-resistant sleeve that prevents them from breaking, even when dropped on concrete.

Don't believe us? Watch this!

Zoo Bibs

Mar 28, 2011 | By Cari Hale
What do you do when you're out of the house and your baby or toddler make a mess of their bib? Surely you won't throw it in the diaper bag and risk getting mashed peas all over everything else...would you?

Skip*Hop's creative minds came together to solve this very dilemma. Their newest product, the  Zoo Bib tucks away into itself so you can hide away messes until you're able to clean them up.

There's no extra cases to carry and  no special techniques to master. Here, see for yourself!

Choose from the adorable owl, monkey or dog Zoo Bib... they even coordinate with the Skip*Hop plate/bowl sets as well as the backpacks and lunch boxes.

Oh, and one last thing- they're machine washable, too! Who would have thought...

UPPAbaby Strollers

Mar 14, 2011 | By Cari Hale
We now know strollers. We have tested stroller after stroller to make sure that we were providing you with the best, the safest, the latest and the greatest.

We know you're bombarded with dozens of options when it comes time to select a stroller, so we took it upon ourselves to do the homework for you. What we found? UPPAbaby. What makes it different, you ask? The details.

Vista Mica (silver) shown with chassis, stroller seat and bassinet.

One package. One purchase. Everything you need. When you purchase the UPPAbaby Vista stroller system everything you need to start comes in one convenient package- the stroller frame (or chassis), the stroller seat w/ bumper bar, the bassinet w/ cover, and the stroller basket. Described as "part sports car, part sports utility-vehicle", UPPAbaby Vista is built for luxury and performance- for both the urban jungle and rugged country streets.

Vista is built to adapt to several different infant seats including Peg Perego, Chicco, Maxi-Cosi and Graco. A simple infant seat adapter (by UPPAbaby) suited to your particular infant seat takes your infant from vehicle to stroller without missing a beat.

Vista Cole (slate blue) with bassinet.

If you (or your baby) prefers, you can begin placing your infant in the bassinet from birth. Because they are laying flat  you don't need to worry about the age/weight restrictions of a typical stroller seat. Comfy, cozy and safe, your itty bitty will be content  in the stroller during any excursion.

Vista Denny (red) with stroller seat and sunshade pulled down.

From 3 months old until 50lbs your child can enjoy the stroller seat facing either you or the world. With one click the stroller seat snaps out of the frame and rotates 180 degrees. The built-in sun shade is an added plus. With one pull it extends beyond the visor to protect your child from the suns' rays. When not in use it hides out sight tucked against the visor.

The chassis is designed to hold both the stroller seat and bassinet at a higher elevation than a traditional stroller. This allows for you to be closer to your child and for your child to get a better look at the world around them.

Speaking of height, if you and your spouse happen to be different heights (which let's face it, are most couples are!) the handle bar adjusts with just one click. It's just another UPPAbaby detail that will leave you wondering how you ever lived without it!

UPPAbaby Denny (red) shown with both the Rumble Seat and Piggy Back.

Thinking of growing your family? The UPPAbaby stroller effortlessly goes from 1 child to 3 children with 2 easy attachments. Each sold separately, you can purchase each seat as you need it and keep it attached only when in use. No more worrying that your stroller will be outdated or out of style by the time baby #2 (or even #3, 4, or 5!) comes- UPPAbaby promises to be one investment you will not regret!

In case you need some more convincing, stop by Itty Bitty Bella and we'll show you just how much this stroller can do. You can take it for a test drive, look at all the 2011 colors and learn about even more of it's features- snack tray, insured travel case, cup holders, fabric swaps to update your look, locking rear wheels, locking front wheels (for jogging!)...the list goes on!!

Until you get in to see us, check out our video. We showcase some of our favorite features...but trust us when we say we couldn't show everything! UPPAbaby has so much to offer you really need to get out and see it for yourself.

See you soon!
