Apr 14, 2011 | By Cari Hale
Thanks to mothers who have come before us, there are now genius products to make nursing a breeze! Gone are the days when you had to hide in your bedroom, the car or a discrete corner with a blanket barely balanced on your shoulders just to get baby fed.

Should you choose to breast feed, it shouldn't be a hassle, a chore or a bad experience. Get what you need to streamline and simplify the process. Today, there are adorable nursing covers designed with you and baby in mind so you can breast feed comfortably at home or on the go.

Nursing Cover Demonstration
Funky patterns and colors adorn each of the nursing covers. Feel free to get a couple so you can match to different outfits...or different moods!

Nursing Cover Demonstration
The neck strap is easily adjusted to fit over your head and hang as low, or as high, as you feel comfortable. The rigid neckline allows you to keep an eye on your baby while still remaining covered and comfortable.

Nursing Cover Pockets
Inside each nursing cover are handy pockets that you can store breast pads, pacifiers, cloths or creams that always come in handy during feeding time.

Even if you choose to bottle feed, the covers can still come in handy during late night feedings. You can keep baby dark and covered as you turn on the lamp for yourself.

No matter how you choose to feed your latest addition, there are great mom-inspired products to help make your go at it a little easier!

Ali's Way

Apr 11, 2011 | By Cari Hale
We had the chance to help out and support Ali's Way earlier this month! Ali's Way is a local foundation that was created by the spirit and courage of Ali Mills. Ali fought cancer twice in her short 13 years, and was a patient at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Ali's Way Donation

They held their 8th annual Ali Mills 5K on April 3 and we were honored to supply the bags for each participant. We tied happies onto 300 Itty Bitty Bella bags and sent them to be filled with wonderful goodies for the each of the dedicated runners/walkers and supporters of Ali's Way.

We feel it a pleasure and an honor to support such a wonderful cause! We're excited for Ali's Cup- the annual tennis tournament- this fall, and other events that help support Ali's Way and St. Jude.

To learn more about Ali's Way, or to get involved yourself, please visit their website.

Our Vintage Collection

Apr 08, 2011 | By Cari Hale
Not a day goes by that we do not receive "ooh's" and "ahh's" over our vintage and antique display pieces. And even though y'all beg, pout and put up a good fight, they are still not for sale!

Vintage Baby Bathtub

We spend lots of time and money scouring the country to find these one-of-a-kind pieces to use in our store. They are a source of inspiration for us and our unique displays, as well as a source of interest and intrigue for all of you. Grandmother's come in with their itty bitty grandbabies and reminisce about the "good ole' days" while teaching their precious companions a thing or two about history. We love to watch you admire and adore our displays, especially when we can see and hear the memories they stir up.

We recently shot some photographs of our favorite vintage pieces. Since everyone loves seeing them in the store, we thought you would love to see them too!

Enjoy!

Antique Baby Bath
Our children's bathtub makes a great front-window piece. We love the texture and character the rough, peeling exterior provides.

Antique Baby Stroller
Can you image pushing this stroller around? It was used as a rental stroller at the Texas State Fairgrounds. All we say is thank goodness for modern technology!

Vintage Tricycle
Our vintage tricycle catches the eye of every boy and girl who visit us. While it's not in riding condition, it sure is fun to look at!

Children's Bedding Display
Antique iron beds have such a beautiful rustic beauty to them. We love how it becomes the perfect accent for all of the bedding we put on it.

Vintage Wash Bins
The washtubs make the perfect display pieces! They are nice and deep so we can fill them full of fun products.

There's no doubt each piece has a story to tell. If we only knew what they were...

Wrap it Up

Apr 07, 2011 | By Cari Hale
Mothers swaddling their babes dates back to 4000 B.C., if you can believe it. The soothing effects of swaddling have been known to mother's around the world for generations, but until now it was not a widely talked about practice.

These days everyone wants to get tips, tricks and products for swaddling their babies. Could it be because experts and mothers alike swear it makes their babies sleep more soundly? Probably! While mothers have known for years that swaddling is the way to go, we can now thank science for dubbing swaddling as the most gentle, effective and beneficial practices for mothers and their babies.

Studies have shown that swaddling allows babies to sleep more soundly because they do not make quick movements (reflex motions) in their sleep that tend to wake them up. Scientists also say that swaddling recreates the warm, cozy, calming environment of the womb.

Aden and Anais muslin swaddle blankets are perfect for swaddling your baby to sleep or to lounge. The cotton muslin's' delicate, yet durable weave makes the fabric stretchy, allowing you to wrap baby snugly without being too restrictive. The cotton muslin is also know for it's "workhorse" properties- meaning that it stands up to repeated uses and washing, only getting better (and softer!) with age.

The Aden and Anais cotton muslin swaddles are perfect for Memphis summers. The weave of the fabric allows air to circulate around the baby, maintaining a constant temperature. It eliminates the threat of overheating as they sleep.

If you prefer to swaddle in a light flannel, we've got the perfect solution. Elegantly embroidered along the edge, our flannel swaddle blankets wrap your baby warmly and snugly- perfect for cool nights and cozy snuggles!

Just in case you haven't mastered the art of the swaddle, or if you need a refresher before baby #2 comes along, we've put together a video tutorial. Check it out and start practicing. Trust us, if we can do it you will have no problem!!
