May we introduce you to the "On the Way Up Basket":

This handy and stylish basket is designed to sit comfortably at the bottom of your stairs and collect the "junk" that actually belongs upstairs. We think it's equally as clever to put a basket at the top of the stairs too so all of those out of place items can find their way back downstairs.
When a family member heads either up or down, they simple grab the basket and deposit the items in their rightful spot!
Now if there was only a clever, handy way to train your children and husband...
