Road Trip!

Jul 14, 2012 | By Brittany Johnson

It's summer time, which means it's the perfect time of year for barbecues, pool parties and road trips. Before you pack up the car to head out to your destination of choice, you'll want to be sure that your itty bitties will be fully occupied from departure until arrival. After all, you can only handle hearing "are we there yet?" so many times before losing your sanity, right? We have a few great ideas for keeping those little bodies busy during all of your long drives-- from Grandma's to the beach, and everywhere in between!

Our Favorite Road Trip Toys

1. Magnetic Play Sets

For an easily transportable activity, magnets are a no-brainer. This cute magnetic set features various themes to keep your boys and girls occupied and challenge their imagination. From funny faces to planes, there is sure to be a scene that will entertain them even on the longest journeys.

2. Flip and Draw Books

Give your child a chance to display their artistic talents with this cute take on the traditional coloring book. Each book features three flippable page sections to create a unique scene that can be colored in their very own special way. They'll love to compare their designs with brother or sister's, and we can assure you that this is one activity that will   them captivated for the long-term.

3. Tell Me a Story Card Sets

Did you ever play the story telling game as a child? We think that sometimes the best use of the extra time during a car ride is to let your imagination run wild. These cute card sets encourage creative storytelling, enabling your child to expand on their story with each card that they lay down. This is the perfect activity for those in the pre-reading stage!

4. Flashcard Sets

Just because they're out of school doesn't mean the learning has to stop completely. Take advantage of free time in the car to sharpen up their learning skills with these fun and colorful themed flash card sets. They'll be tested on all of the basics, from counting to colors and shapes, and will love the challenge that comes from learning new things.

What are you waiting for? Pack your bags and hit the road. Just don't forget the road trip toys-- you'll be glad you brought them!
